Golfer's Snowman Ornament

I have a lot of people in my family that are avid golfers and as you know I love to give a homemade ornament every year from my kids. So after searching through the garage and finding a large bag of used golf balls (why do golfers have hundreds of golf balls?) I came up with this cute, easy and inexpensive golf ball ornament idea. I made this one, but my kids will make all the rest for their grandparents, dad, uncles, neighbor etc. I am so happy with the end results and I know all golfers will love this ornament!

 

 Materials:

• Golf ball (be sure not to take the expensive ones :) ..when my husband saw me doing this he insisted on knowing what name was on the ball..I got lucky it was a cheap one. I have no idea the difference!)
• Picture hanging hook
• Sharpie or other permanent markers in Black, orange, and pink
• White paint (optional)
• Glitter (optional)

Method:
Use the sharp tip of the picture hanging hook to make a small hole in the top of the ball and carefully screw the hook into the ball as far as you can. Make sure it goes in somewhat straight. Towards the end, use a towel to wrap the hook because it starts to hurt your fingers.

If you want to paint the ball white do so now. I did some painted white and others not. I really liked the ones that were not painted better but it all depends on the condition of the golf ball and how much blank space there was to work with.

Once dry, using a black sharpie, make 2 dots for the eyes and some for the smiley mouth. I used the divots in the ball as my guide. The smile isn't perfectly shaped this way but I like how it looked.

I used a really light pink marker to create rosy cheeks on the snowman and an orange marker for the nose. I put names and 2010 on the back side so we can remember when it was made.

I then put a thin coat of silver glitter ModgePodge over the entire golf ball. You can't really see this in the pictures but it added a nice touch to the ornament.

Tie a ribbon and you are set!
